The cuisine of Arborea is strongly based upon the fresh seasonal produce made available by our gardens and farmland. In addition, Arboreans love to bake fresh bread, make their own pasta and pastry, catch and prepare fish, shoot wild game including deer, duck, and hare, and make their own beer and wine.
The signature dish of the Arborean kitchen is the barbecued pizza, using onion, capsicum, shaved ham, fresh basil, tomato sauce and fresh herbs with cheese on a home-made thin-crust base.
Other favourite dishes include duck-egg omelettes, chicken in orange and coriander sauce, and the Tsar’s famous Sunday morning pancakes.
The Tsar’s famous Sunday morning pancakes:
1 cup flour
1 ¼ cup milk
1 pinch of salt
Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Melt a small amount of butter in a pan over low to medium heat. Pour in batter until it forms a round pancake. When bubbles start appearing in the top of the pancake, flip it over to cook the other side. When both sides are golden brown, remove pancake from pan. Repeat until batter is all used up. Serve with honey, golden syrup, or brown sugar and lemon juice.
The Culinary Institute of Arborea was formed to preserve and develop the unique cuisine of Arborea, where possible using only Arborean produce.
